The Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries’ Department of Creative Industries announced Wednesday the return of its annual Christmas Home and Business Lighting Competition for 2025, inviting residents and business owners to showcase their festive spirit through illuminated displays.
The competition, designed to evoke the joy of the holiday season through creative and dazzling lighting displays, is now accepting registrations through Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Interested participants may obtain registration forms Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Department of Creative Industries Headquarters on Old Parham Road (upstairs INET) or at the National Festivals Office, located on the first floor of the Cecil George-John Building on Redcliffe Street and Corn Alley.
Pre-judging is scheduled for December 20-21, 2025, with final displays to be evaluated on December 28, 2025. Winners will be announced on Good Morning Antigua, Barbuda on Friday, January 5, 2026.
Home entries will be divided into four geographic zones—East, West, North, and South—with prizes awarded in each zone. All home participants will receive significant benefits, including a 100% waiver on electricity service from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026, duty-free concessions on Christmas lights and decorations, and cash prizes for the top three winners in each zone. First place winners will receive $3,000.00 XCD, second place $2,000.00 XCD, and third place $1,000.00 XCD.
Business entries will receive a 50% waiver on electricity service for December 2025, duty-free concessions on Christmas lights and decorations, and cash prizes matching the home category amounts for the top three winners.
The Department of Creative Industries encourages all interested homeowners and business operators to register early and participate in spreading the joy and splendor of Christmas 2025 throughout Antigua and Barbuda. For more information, contact the Department of Creative Industries during business hours at their headquarters on Old Parham Road or the National Festivals Office on Redcliffe Street.

Those mediocre prize monies for the winners in 2025 is an absolute INSULT to the participants. They might as well cancel that if ah dem likkle money winners ah get
$3000 good enough for first place in my opinion
Can’t wait to see the beautiful lightings i wish the participants good luck
I love it. Christmas in October. And in addition to getting all these waivers and right off off my electricity bill I see this as a win for all
Love this! It’s great to see the government encouraging creativity and community spirit during the holiday season.
It’s nice to see that this initiative notice came out so early in October, encouraging persons to register early at Department of Creative Industries on Old Parham road . However, to my surprise and disappointment, when I went to register, I was told, “Oh, I don’t know about this. We haven’t received any form. Registration isn’t ready.”
Even more disappointing was being told to come back later in the year because they had no knowledge of what I was referring to. It’s truly disheartening when information is released to the public, yet the offices responsible are unprepared to accommodate those who respond promptly.
