Arah Robins of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority joins fellow panelists at the Sister Cities Summit during the International Arts Festival, engaging in a dynamic discussion on cultural exchange, tourism, and sustainable development
Antigua and Barbuda made a strong impression at the International Arts Festival in New Orleans, where representatives from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) promoted the twin-island nation as both a world-class destination and a cultural powerhouse.
ABTA’s Arah Robins and Annie Liverpool-Charles represented the country at the event, which brought together cultural leaders and tourism professionals from across the globe. Robins participated in a panel discussion on how tourism can better benefit local communities, highlighting Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable tourism.
She emphasized that hallmark events such as Carnival, Culinary Month, and Art Week create economic opportunities for local artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs, ensuring that “the people who create our culture are the ones who benefit from it.”
Beyond the conference, the delegation connected directly with U.S. audiences through radio interviews and a Caribbean-themed activation at Congo Square, featuring rum punch tastings and a raffle for two round-trip tickets to Antigua and Barbuda.
The team also met with New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and other officials to strengthen cultural and tourism partnerships.
For Antigua and Barbuda, participation in the festival was not just about promotion it was about deepening international ties, celebrating heritage, and showcasing the islands’ leadership in cultural tourism.

Good job guys
So proud to see our country on the international stage. Let’s keep pushing our culture beyond Carnival and into global spaces.
Love seeing local artists getting global recognition. Keep waving the flag high!
