The Antigua Port Authority came to a standstill last Thursday, not for cargo or customs, but for a moment of remembrance.
In a moment of solemn reflection, management and staff gathered beneath the towering cranes and quiet docks to pay tribute to one of their own; the late Winston Gomes.

Every time I pass down by Deep Water Harbour, I gon remember that man. He was part of the heartbeat of the Port a true gentleman, quiet but full of strength
Mr. Gomes was one of those quiet heroes who helped keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s wonderful to see the Port Authority honoring his years of dedication. His name will surely be remembered by those who worked alongside him
Antigua lost a good man. Winston never look for praise or spotlight, but his presence alone make things run smooth. May his soul rest easy. He earned it
Respect to a man who serve this country well. Day in, day out, rain or shine, Winston dey pon the job. He set the standard for the young ones show dem what discipline and pride in your work look like
