  1. This situation is tricky I feel for someone struggling with mental health, yet I can’t shake worry about her walking free. She should get treatment, yes, but in a secure, supervised environment. Community safety must come first

  2. I personally don’t believe she meant to kill her mental illness is real and a serious problem

  3. What exactly makes this one of the most shocking killings? Smfh. Stop the exaggeration.
I’m not sure how to feel cause she obviously needs help. At the end of the day someone lost their life at her hands that we cannot forget

  4. This case still hurt me. Two young lives gone, one in the grave and the other wasting away in prison. Tragic all around.

  5. Mental illness??? Really
I thought them say a weed she smoke.
Her choice she choose to smoke..
27 years is harsh yes I agree..
But she killed someone who was in their own home.
Black or white her family deserves justice.
    The other issue..
    Walk free how???
Who will be responsible for her????
Remember her family was unable to prevent the killing of Jane.
So who is going to prevent her from killing again…

    • Did you listen? HER MOTHER WENT SEAKING HELP FOR HER AND SHE WAS TIRNED DOWN. How can you tell someone that in order to get help they need to commit a crime or self harm? The system failed jer not her family!

      • What system failed her?
I heard her mom’s statement and it says two separate things.
She went to a few places that I am not even sure of in search of help.
Then when she got the news her child killed someone she said not my child she is not that type of person”
        Okay that’s what I heard.
If I had a mentally ill child that would not have been my response.
Additionally the explanation given in court about her mental issues in my opinion they are life choices.
Things that her family should have done their best to curb.
The Dr mentioned prostitution from a young age. “Her family should not have allowed that.
He mentioned working at Rasfreeman farms, again her family should not have allowed that.
He mentioned heavy weed smoking up to 8 joints a day, again it goes back to her up bringing.
Listen you don’t get to raise your child any how and then turn and blame the system when it doesn’t work out in the end.
Based on what I have read in the news this girl is a victim of her own life choices.
Hopefully she can now get the help she needs and honestly perhaps 12 to 15years should be an appropriate sentence and let’s hope she gains the proper prospective that will allow her to make better life choices upon her release.

  7. Too many people using mental illness as an excuse after the fact. It serious, yes, but it can’t be a get-out-of-jail card.

  8. Great job Antigua.news at following up on these stories. We have always been lacking these kinds of things in Antigua today. Followups….But speaking frankly, she should be in Clarevue and not in jail.

  9. Sometimes the system fails both sides… if she really was unstable, she needed treatment long time, not prison

  10. Mental instability or not, a young woman dead and a family suffering. Justice still haffi be served

  11. I’m not saying she didn’t have issues, but that should’ve been raised before the sentencing, not months after.

  12. Everybody want second chance after they face the time. Where was the sympathy when the victim was crying for help?

  13. If there’s real evidence she was unwell, then the court should review it properly. But Antigua people tired of the same story
