Prep Work Begins for Much-Needed Drainage in Cassada Gardens

Preliminary work is now underway in Cassada Gardens as government crews begin preparations for a long-overdue drainage improvement project aimed at tackling persistent flooding in the area.

Residents have long complained about poor water runoff during heavy rainfall, which often leaves several sections of the community impassable.

The new initiative, led by the Ministry of Works, involves clearing blocked culverts, reshaping drainage channels, and laying the groundwork for a more permanent solution to stormwater management.

Officials say the project forms part of a wider national effort to strengthen flood resilience and improve public infrastructure in vulnerable communities.

Once completed, the improved drainage network is expected to significantly reduce flooding and enhance road safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.

Residents have welcomed the move, describing it as “long overdue” and expressing hope that the work will bring lasting relief before the next major rainy season.

  2. Yes, it’s good to see something is being done to improve the road drains. However, the drain is poorly designed. The slope of the road surface should allow the water to run off into the drain to prevent the water table from affecting the road’s strength and foundation. I know the road engineers in Public Works can do better than that.
