Senator Dwayne George, joined by a delegation from the Ministry of Finance, represented Antigua and Barbuda at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, held in Washington, D.C.
The global gathering brought together finance ministers, central bank governors, and key policymakers from around the world to address pressing economic issues, policy priorities, and strategies for sustainable development.
Antigua and Barbuda’s active participation ensures the nation remains engaged in shaping the international financial agenda while deepening partnerships with global financial institutions and development partners.
The delegation also used the platform to advocate for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), drawing attention to the challenges of climate resilience, debt sustainability, and limited access to concessional financing. The meetings also opened opportunities for technical assistance and financial collaboration aimed at strengthening national development and economic stability.
The country’s engagement reflects its ongoing commitment to responsible fiscal management, sustainable growth, and global cooperation, ensuring that Antigua and Barbuda continues to have a strong voice in international economic discussions.
“Antigua and Barbuda stands ready to engage the world in finding fair and sustainable solutions that protect vulnerable economies while driving inclusive growth,” Senator George said.
