Sir Lester Bird Medical Center
The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has extended its gratitude to members of the public for their feedback and engagement following the recent announcement of new Emergency Room (ER) visiting hours.
In a statement, the hospital emphasized that it remains sensitive to the emotional and practical support that loved ones provide to patients in need of emergency care.
The administration reassured the public that the policy does not affect the long-standing practice of allowing support persons to accompany patients—particularly minors, the elderly, individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and those experiencing a mental health crisis.
Emergency Department Chair, Dr. Olsheath Bowen, reiterated this position, noting that, “It’s important to note that this visitor policy does not affect our usual practice of ensuring that patients who need support are accompanied by an adult when accessing care.”
According to SLBMC, the newly defined visiting hours apply only to patients who have already been treated in the ER and are awaiting transfer to an inpatient ward.
The hospital said the measure is intended to maintain a safe, efficient, and private environment for all patients.
The medical centre thanked the public for its continued understanding and dialogue, adding that it remains committed to listening, learning, and improving the quality of care offered to every patient who walks through its doors.

Thank you for the explanation
Finally, some clarity! Families need to know when they can be there to support their loved ones.
SLBMC always try to justify their nonesence.
