Traffic advisory: Roadworks continue across major highways under government rehabilitation project

The Ministry of Works’ Project Implementation Management Unit (PIMU) is advising motorists that single-lane traffic management will continue along several major highways to facilitate ongoing infrastructure repairs under the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project.

According to the advisory, works will be carried out daily from approximately 8:00 a.m. and will include asphalt resurfacing, drainage improvements, sidewalk rehabilitation, and road markings.

On Valley Road North, crews will conduct asphalt repairs, drain cleaning, and apply new road markings.

On Old Parham Road, drain cleaning works will continue in the vicinity of Fabi Building Supplies.

On Anchorage Road, sidewalk and drainage rehabilitation, along with road marking, will also be in progress.

Meanwhile, on Sir Sydney Walling Highway, teams will continue asphalt repairs, junction improvements, and other miscellaneous works.

Flag personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flow, and motorists are urged to follow all instructions to ensure safety, as heavy-duty equipment will be in operation close to the work zones.

The Ministry emphasizes that all businesses along the affected routes remain open and that C.O. Williams Ltd., the project’s main contractor, regrets any inconvenience caused.

Drivers and commuters are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and allow extra time for potential delays as the rehabilitation works progress.
