National Sports Awards

The Ministry of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries, through the Department of Sports, is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 edition of the prestigious Antigua and Barbuda National Sports Awards.

This annual celebration stands as the highest national recognition of sporting excellence, honouring the athletes, coaches, administrators, and associations whose outstanding performances and contributions have propelled Antigua and Barbuda’s sporting development forward.

The grand ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Royalton Resort, and will be held under the distinguished patronage of The Honourable Daryll S. Matthew, Minister of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries.

This year’s event will spotlight individuals and teams who have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship—both at home and on the international stage. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year
  • Junior Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Administrator of the Year
  • Association of the Year
  • Special Recognition Awards for Lifetime Achievers
  • Mind Sports Award of the Year

Minister Matthew underscored the importance of the annual event, noting that the National Sports Awards are “a celebration of the resilience, discipline, and excellence that define our athletes and inspire national pride. Each awardee represents the very best of Antigua and Barbuda’s sporting spirit.”

Chairman of the Awards Committee, Mr. Cleofoster Harris, also encouraged wide participation from the sporting community: “Our athletes continue to carve their names into the nation’s sporting legacy. These awards are not only about honouring past achievements but also about motivating future champions to reach even greater heights.”

The 2025 ceremony promises an evening of inspiration, entertainment, and tributes to legendary figures whose lifelong dedication has enriched Antigua and Barbuda’s sports culture.

Nomination forms are available at the Ministry of Sports Headquarters, located on Factory Road (former Cricket West Indies offices). All submissions must be completed and returned by November 30, 2025.
