Red Cross Programs and Operations Coordinator Victoria Charlton outlines plans to travel to Barbuda
The Red Cross of Antigua and Barbuda will be travelling to the sister island this weekend to conduct training sessions.
“On Saturday the 25th, the team is going to Barbuda to do a community preparedness training for the entire community in Barbuda. So, we’ll be doing first aid and disaster prevention techniques,” Programs and Operations Coordinator Victoria Charlton explained.
The sessions form part of other projects the body is doing currently.
The local fraction is celebrating 84 years of service under the theme “84 Years of Compassion, Action, and Humanitarian Excellence.”
“Well, this is a great milestone for us because over the years, you know, as a nonprofit organization, we have faced multiple challenges, disasters, health crisis, and to see that organization is still thriving over so many decades, it’s amazing and you know, as the programs and operations coordinator, I’m sure you’ve done lots of initiative key projects,” Charlton added.
As part of our 84th Anniversary Week, the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society (ABRCS) proudly welcomed five new volunteers during a heartfelt Volunteer Pinning Ceremony on October 21.
Tammie Ann Gordon Brookes, Michaela Harris, Mary-Ann Daniel, Dail T. Gordon, and Keva Dean – who bring expertise in public health, administration, fundraising, EMT, nursing, and psychosocial support were inducted after completing six weeks of orientation, volunteer hours, and training.
They took the ABRCS Volunteer Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to humanity and service.
