French authorities are mounting an intense search for a missing boat captain who reportedly fell overboard while sailing from Antigua to Dominica on Tuesday night.
The missing man has been identified as Philippe Daniel Jules, a French national who was captaining the vessel at the time of the incident.
According to State Media, Jules lost his balance after ducking to avoid a swinging sail during strong winds. Passengers on board said the incident occurred around 11 p.m., and despite their immediate attempts to locate him, Jules disappeared beneath the waves.
The vessel was later diverted to Guadeloupe, where it is now docked as authorities coordinate search and rescue efforts.
