The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) recently brought the vibrant spirit of the twin-island nation to the heart of London with its first-ever UK Diaspora Mixer, held at The Qube, Canary Wharf.
The landmark event attracted nearly 100 distinguished members of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora, uniting professionals, creatives, and community leaders in an evening that celebrated culture, connection, and national pride.
Hosted by Mikaela Vivian, the evening’s dynamic programme featured a rich blend of cultural showcases and interactive activities. Highlights included moving presentations by Denize Ledeatte, Director of the National Windrush Museum, and Keshia Sakarah, renowned food writer and former chef. Guests also took part in an energetic icebreaker led by fitness professional Andrea Wallace, and an engaging Antigua and Barbuda-themed trivia challenge.

The atmosphere came alive with live performances by saxophonist Tony Looby, vocalists Carla Thomas and Laurent John, and music from DJ JAH UTH. Guests were treated to a taste of home with Antiguan-inspired canapés from Touch of Class Catering, Pure Squeeze’s natural juices, and decadent desserts courtesy of Aurora Cakes.
Cherrie Osborne, ABTA’s Director of Tourism for the UK & Europe, hailed the event as a milestone in strengthening diaspora relations:
“Supporting this groundbreaking mixer represents a pivotal moment in our diaspora engagement strategy. Seeing so many accomplished individuals reconnecting with their Antiguan and Barbudan heritage, while discovering new ways to contribute to our islands’ growth, reinforces why Antigua and Barbuda continues to inspire pride across generations.”
The celebration also featured special giveaways, including flights to attend the ‘Playing to Inspire’ concert in March 2026 and Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month in May 2026.
Closing the evening, Miss Caribbean UK 2025, Shakyrah Davis, delivered heartfelt remarks, commending the initiative and encouraging continued collaboration within the diaspora community.
