Leader of the Opposition Jamale Pringle is maintaining his call for a full public inquiry into the operations of the Public Works Department, insisting that it is the only credible way to uncover the truth behind the widening government vehicle scandal.
Pringle said that while the government has acknowledged irregularities and promised reforms, only an independent inquiry can ensure transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the outcome.
His renewed call comes after Prime Minister Gaston Browne revealed that it was his wife, Maria Browne, who first exposed the questionable vehicle transactions involving several public agencies. The Prime Minister has since pledged that the government will seek restitution from those involved and introduce new measures to close administrative loopholes that allowed the situation to occur.
But Pringle insists that these steps fall short of what is required. He argued that without an impartial and open investigation, the public will continue to question the government’s role and the depth of the misconduct.
The vehicle scandal linked to unauthorized purchases, duty-free exemptions, and internal misuse of government resources has already prompted multiple internal investigations and administrative reshuffles within key departments, including Public Works, the Transport Board, and Customs.
Pringle said a Commission of Inquiry, conducted under public scrutiny, would help restore integrity within the public service and send a strong message that corruption and mismanagement will not be tolerated.

Let’s have inquiry into everything. Cause I want to see an Investigation how the Opposition Leader was allowed to bill the country over 6 MILLION BROAD DOLLA note fu collect dead dog
Mr. Opposition Leader.

Keep.up.the fight…We know you are a man of integrity
They need to stop brushing these issues under the rug. If there’s nothing to hide, then an inquiry should be no problem.
Pringle you will learn.. that’s the way it is
If there’s nothing to hide, then an inquiry shouldn’t be a problem. The public deserves clarity.
