Woman detained after $222,000 Worth of Cannabis seized at V.C. Bird International Airport

A joint drug interdiction operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport Cargo Shed on Wednesday afternoon led to the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis, valued at more than $222,000.

According to police reports, the operation was conducted around 2:15 p.m. on October 22, 2025, by officers from the Narcotics Department and the K-9 Unit.

The team worked in collaboration with Customs Enforcement officers as part of ongoing efforts to curb the trafficking of illegal drugs through the country’s ports of entry.

During the search, two brown cardboard boxes were examined and found to contain thirty-seven vacuum-sealed packages filled with a green, bushy substance resembling cannabis. The suspected drugs, weighing approximately 37 pounds, were seized along with the boxes.

A woman was detained and taken to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs at $222,000. The matter is now under active investigation.
