Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne is in Dominica this weekend, joining thousands of festivalgoers at the island’s highly anticipated World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), a signature event that forms part of Dominica’s Independence celebrations.

The annual festival officially opened on Friday night and has already drawn a vibrant crowd of locals, visitors, and regional dignitaries. Among them was Prime Minister Browne, who appeared to be in high spirits, mingling freely with fans, taking photos, and enjoying the rhythmic sounds of Caribbean music.

Known for his energetic and approachable style, Browne was spotted both alongside Dominica’s government ministers, including Roosevelt Skerrit and Tourism Minister Denise Charles, and on the ground with regular patrons, blending easily with the crowd and sharing in the island’s festive spirit.

The three-day festival, now in its 24th year, is one of the biggest cultural events in the Eastern Caribbean, celebrating the region’s Creole heritage through music, dance, and cuisine. This year’s line-up features several international and regional stars, including dancehall heavyweight Vybz Kartel, recently released from prison, who is expected to perform tonight in what is already being dubbed one of the festival’s most anticipated moments.

As Dominica pulses with music and colour, Prime Minister Browne’s presence adds another layer of regional camaraderie, showcasing, once again, his knack for diplomacy through connection and culture.
