Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne is in Dominica this weekend, joining thousands of festivalgoers at the island’s highly anticipated World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), a signature event that forms part of Dominica’s Independence celebrations.
The annual festival officially opened on Friday night and has already drawn a vibrant crowd of locals, visitors, and regional dignitaries. Among them was Prime Minister Browne, who appeared to be in high spirits, mingling freely with fans, taking photos, and enjoying the rhythmic sounds of Caribbean music.

Known for his energetic and approachable style, Browne was spotted both alongside Dominica’s government ministers, including Roosevelt Skerrit and Tourism Minister Denise Charles, and on the ground with regular patrons, blending easily with the crowd and sharing in the island’s festive spirit.
The three-day festival, now in its 24th year, is one of the biggest cultural events in the Eastern Caribbean, celebrating the region’s Creole heritage through music, dance, and cuisine. This year’s line-up features several international and regional stars, including dancehall heavyweight Vybz Kartel, recently released from prison, who is expected to perform tonight in what is already being dubbed one of the festival’s most anticipated moments.

As Dominica pulses with music and colour, Prime Minister Browne’s presence adds another layer of regional camaraderie, showcasing, once again, his knack for diplomacy through connection and culture.

PM can get plenty knowledge on hosting a 3 day festival and embracing culture
Your country under stress and you fetting?
From Cabinet room to Carnival stage our PM never misses a beat. Love the energy though! 🇦🇬🔥🇩🇲
Say what you want, but Gassy always outside! If there’s a party or a mic expect him front and centre. 😂
Always good to see leaders supporting regional events… though I hope local issues still getting attention back home.
Good he can find head space to party while his country going down slowly . Slowly Slowly
A true Caribbean man! Love to see leaders connecting with regular people instead of just sitting in VIP sections.
Only Gaston can turn a political trip into a cultural link-up! 😂 Say what you will, but he blending diplomacy and dancehall like a pro.
The energy in Dominica must be electric this weekend. WCMF never disappoints, and having PM Browne there just adds to the hype!
