
It was celebration time for Board of Education on Wednesday night as the team was crowned the 2025 League Champions in the ongoing Cool and Smooth ABBA Business Basketball League.
BOE defeated last year’s champs, Sandals to hoist the trophy in the feature match of a triple header evening at the JSC Sports Complex.
The 50-42 victory saw Daniel Perez lead the charge with 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and five steals.
He was given assistance by Adonis Humphreys who netted 11 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and recorded 4 steals and two blocks.
For Sandals, T-Shawn Lewis sank 13 points and last years League MVP, Keroi Lee made 12 points and snatched 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
It is the first loss of the season for Sandals who now drop to second place with 10-1 record while BOE remain undefeated with a perfect 12-0 record.
Both teams will play their final regular season games tonight at JSC with BOE playing J&J Company Landscaping Services at 6:45 while Sandals will meet rivals Richie’s Shooterz at 7:45.
Meanwhile in the other games played on Thursday night, Antigua Barbuda Transport Board thrashed ACT, 93-78 while Richie’s Shooterz edged out Antigua Power Company, 71-60.
Marlon ‘Buju’ Charles top scored for Transport Board with 27 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals.
He got some assistance from Lindsay McDonald with 25 points, Ishaan Peets with 21 points, and his son, Elijah Charles with 10 points.
ACT’s Hansel Piper had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
His teammates, Delroy Foster Jr, Ryan Shepherd and Henry Dorsette had 14, 13 and 10 points respectively.
Tajahron Davis had a game high 20 points and four assists for Richie’s Shooterz.
Devorn Benjamin assisted with 18 points, and Cohen Desouza and Kwame Brathwaite contributed both scoring 10 points.
APC’s Sheldon Abrams had 15 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.
Akeem Davis had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals while his teammates Ezekiel Francois and Tristan Jacobs chipped in scoring 10.
