Residents across Antigua and Barbuda can breathe easy this week as the latest Saharan Dust Air Quality Bulletin from the Meteorological Service reports that air quality remains good.
According to the 9:10 a.m. update issued Wednesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI), based on particulate matter PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀, is currently between 20 and 50, placing it in the “Good” category. This means that air quality poses little or no risk to the public.
Meteorologist Dale Destin explained that minimal Saharan dust is present in the atmosphere, with conditions expected to remain stable until Sunday. “No action is required at this time,” the bulletin stated, reassuring residents that health implications are negligible.
While no adverse effects are anticipated, the advisory noted that people with respiratory or heart conditions, as well as the elderly and young children, are typically the most sensitive to changes in air quality.

Thanks to Dale Destin and the Met Office for always keeping us updated. Breathing easy this week!
Happy to know the air is good, but I wish they’d issue these updates more often. Some days it still feels dusty in the city.
Nice to see the monitoring is keeping us informed awareness helps everyone stay healthy.
Encouraging news, despite the light Saharan dust drifting across the region, Antigua and Barbuda’s air quality remains at healthy levels.
