Police Probe Hacking, Break-Ins, and Fraud Cases Across St. John’s

Investigators are probing a string of incidents reported across the city this week — including cyber theft, house and business break-ins, and credit card fraud.

In one case, a local professional reported that over $19,000 EC was stolen from her bank account after it was allegedly hacked.

Separately, two homes and a restaurant were broken into — with cash and other items taken — while in another case, a business owner reported the theft of four vehicle rims from his premises.

Police also received a report from the U.S. Consular Office regarding an American citizen who allegedly purchased a travel ticket with a fraudulent credit card.

Investigations into all incidents are continuing.
