Cancer Centre poised to be reopened in early 2026

The reopening of the retrofitted Cancer Centre could happen in the first quarter of 2026.

This is according to Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph who gave the update while speaking on the Browne and Browne on Saturday afternoon.

The old equipment was removed last week.

Swedish manufacturer Elekta conducted the removal

Following its removal, the new equipment will be installed, and the final touches will be done on the complex.

The Centre closed its doors back in April 2023, but news broke that it would be reopened but under new management after the sale in 2024 for EC $13 million.

Many cancer patients and members of the public expressed delight as it would be more convenient and less costly to seek treatment rather than having to travel.

Since then, there have been several delays which has plagued its reopening.

A legal battle between the former owner and the government was the main thorn.

With the old equipment now being removed, Elekta will begin to install their new state-of-the-art equipment.
