A George Street resident facing illegal firearm charges will remain behind bars until later this week after physical discomfort forced court officials to postpone his plea hearing.
Authorities are holding 37-year-old Jamala Joseph until Thursday, November 20, when he’s scheduled to return before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel to answer charges related to an unlicensed .25 Beretta pistol and two matching rounds of ammunition.
Joseph’s Monday court appearance was cut short after he reported experiencing pain, prompting the magistrate to defer proceedings.
The Green Bay man found himself in legal trouble following an early morning police operation on November 14. Grays Farm Police Station officers were en route to investigate a separate incident in the Green Bay area shortly after 1:00 am when they spotted Joseph’s vehicle on George Street and decided to conduct a traffic stop.
A subsequent search of the car turned up both the handgun and ammunition, leading to Joseph’s immediate detention. He was transported to the station, processed, and formally charged with weapons violations before his initial court appearance.
Joseph now awaits Thursday’s hearing to formally respond to the allegations against him.

wHAT do you mean by physical discomfort? I hate when you all give me half a story
Once is Greenbay
Curious to see how this case unfolds. Hopefully, it serves as a deterrent for future incidents.
