APUA Responds to Early-Morning Outage After Crash Near Antigua State College

A vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Antigua State College early Friday morning caused a power outage that affected parts of Golden Grove and surrounding areas.

According to the APUA Electricity Business Unit, the incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m., damaging a utility pole and disrupting service to customers nearby. Crews were immediately dispatched to the scene and have since isolated the affected section.

APUA confirmed that technicians are currently working to replace the damaged pole and restore electricity as quickly and safely as possible.

The Electricity Business Unit issued an apology to all impacted customers, especially those in the Golden Grove and ASC area, and thanked the public for its patience as restoration efforts continue.

  6. APUA apologizing again, but honestly they’re doing their best. The bigger issue is the reckless driving happening all hours of the night.

  7. These late-night crashes near ASC are alarming. That stretch needs some kind of traffic-calming measure because it’s turning into a danger zone

  8. Give APUA their credit at least they mobilized fast. Some countries would be without power for half a day after something like this

  9. Golden Grove always seems to get the worst of these incidents. One accident and half the community goes dark. Something needs to change
