Police Investigation Underway After 41-Year-Old Hodges Bay Man Dies in Friar’s Hill Crash

Police have opened an investigation into a deadly late-night crash on Friar’s Hill Road that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Hodges Bay man.

The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. Thursday near the Sir Wright F. George Police Training Academy and involved a silver Audi A7346 and a brown horse. Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle was travelling northbound at a high rate of speed when it struck the animal, causing the driver to lose control.

Both occupants were injured, and EMS personnel transported them to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. The passenger succumbed to his injuries at 12:54 a.m., while the driver remains in stable condition. The horse also died at the scene.

The Forensic Investigations Unit processed the crash site, and the wrecked vehicle has been secured at Police Headquarters as inquiries continue.

Police are again urging motorists to drive cautiously at night and remain alert for stray animals on the nation’s roadways.
