Government is reporting substantial progress in agriculture as both large-scale and backyard farmers increase local production.

According to the Throne Speech:

  • Antigua and Barbuda is now self-sufficient in egg production
  • Farmers are expanding poultry output toward meeting full national demand
  • A new poultry abattoir and a modern quadruped abattoir will be built
  • Local pork supply continues to grow
  • CMC has expanded its role in guaranteeing markets for farmers

Government also highlighted the construction of small dams and ponds to tackle water shortages, which have historically hindered farm productivity
