Government of Antigua and Barbuda Launches Workshop to Strengthen Local Contractors

Local contractors are receiving a boost in skills and knowledge as the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, through the Ministries of Finance and Works, kicks off a two-day Capacity Building Workshop in collaboration with the Caribbean Development Bank.

The workshop, which began today, is designed to equip local contractors with the tools they need to prepare strong bids, meet project requirements, and successfully manage projects from inception to completion. Organizers said the training will enhance participants’ ability to compete for both local and regional contracts, ensuring that more opportunities are accessible to Antiguan and Barbudan businesses.

Minister of Works Maria Browne described the initiative as a strategic investment in the nation’s economy.

By investing in local talent, the government aims to create a more competitive construction sector capable of supporting both national development goals and regional opportunities.
