Prime Minister Gaston Browne
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has formally congratulated Dr. Godwin Friday on his election as Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, signalling Antigua and Barbuda’s readiness to deepen cooperation with the new administration in Kingstown.
The congratulatory message, dispatched from Morocco on November 28 while Prime Minister Browne attends an international conference, emphasized the importance of continued partnership within the OECS and CARICOM.
Browne expressed confidence that both leaders will work closely to advance shared priorities, strengthen regional integration, and improve the lives of citizens across the Caribbean.
Prime Minister Browne also issued a separate letter to outgoing Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, acknowledging his historic 24-year leadership one of the longest in the region.
He praised Dr. Gonsalves for his unwavering commitment to Caribbean unity, his transformative role in Vincentian public life, and the mentorship he has offered throughout the years.
Browne noted that Dr. Gonsalves’ legacy “endures and speaks for itself,” and wished him well as he continues serving in Parliament.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong, productive relations with St Vincent and the Grenadines, underscoring its intention to build on decades of friendship and cooperation.

Nice to see Ras Gassy Dread keeping communication strong. Unity in the OECS matters
Appreciate seeing recognition for Gonsalves’ decades of service, history matters even as we move forward.
Well we havent seen Pringle congratulations yet. If he did i havent seen it
I think he did send congratulations out Mr. Terry….. it’s too early in December for us to start being political! Let’s consider the Christmas season
A thoughtful and diplomatic response from Browne, striking the right balance — acknowledging a historic political shift in St. Vincent while also giving Gonsalves credit for his long regional influence. Moments like this help maintain stability and continuity across the OECS and CARICOM, even during major leadership transitions.
