National Archives Closes to Public Until Further Notice

The National Archives of Antigua and Barbuda has temporarily closed its doors to the public, citing the need to suspend services until further notice.

The announcement, issued by the institution’s management, advises residents that updates on reopening plans will be provided as soon as they become available.

The closure is expected to affect researchers, students, and government departments that rely on access to historical records and national documents.

Officials acknowledged the inconvenience and indicated that efforts are underway to keep the public informed of any changes.

  2. Hopefully this closure is temporary and for a clear reason. Transparency about the situation would help the public understand.

  3. I know they had leaking issues in the past and I’m hoping that they get long-term solutions… like a new building. If it took is plagued by government mould that would be extremely detrimental for the documents they store there.

  4. A necessary move, but hopefully brief. The Archives hold important public records, so any closure can inconvenience researchers, students, and families needing documents.
