PM Highlights Near Full Employment: “There Are Jobs for Everyone Who Wants to Work”
Antigua and Barbuda’s labour market is the strongest it has ever been, Prime Minister Gaston Browne reported in Thursday’s Budget Presentation, noting a historic rise in jobs and earnings.
Data from the Social Security Board show the number of active jobs increasing from 50,601 in 2024 to an estimated 54,288 in 2025.
“This proves… that there are jobs available in Antigua and Barbuda for everyone who wants to work,” Browne told Parliament.
He highlighted major jumps among middle-income earners, pointing to a 94% rise among those earning $6,000–$9,999 per month and a doubling in the $10,000–$14,999 range.
The Minimum Wage Committee, he announced, has begun deliberations and will recommend a new increase to take effect by July 2026.
