Leader of the Opposition Jamale Pringle

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle is set to officially open the debate on the 2026 National Budget when Parliament resumes this morning.

Pringle will deliver the first response to the People-Centred Growth and Development Budget presented on Thursday by Prime Minister Gaston Browne. His contribution is expected to outline the United Progressive Party’s critique of the government’s spending priorities, economic projections, and development plans for the year ahead.

The opposition leader is also anticipated to address key national concerns, including cost of living, job creation, public sector management, and the government’s debt position, while presenting his party’s alternative proposals.

The budget debate will continue throughout the week as other MPs contribute.
