Government to Reimburse Students and Parents for CXC Fees Already Paid

Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Education Minister Daryll Matthew confirm that June 2026 CXC fees will be reimbursed

Just days after declaring that all CXC examination fees will be fully covered by the state starting with the 2026 academic year, the government has unveiled yet another significant relief measure: families who already paid for June 2026 exams will receive their money back.

The update was first shared by Prime Minister Gaston Browne on social media and later reinforced in Parliament by Education Minister Daryll Matthew during the 2026 Budget debate.

Minister Matthew explained that the refund process is expected to get underway next week, with funds being sent directly to the schools.

“For every parent and student who already settled their CXC bill, the Ministry has instructed that the money be returned,” he said. “Schools keep accurate records of fees based on each student’s subject load, so everyone should receive their refunds before Christmas. It’s one more reason to smile this season.”

  3. I’m glad they’re not leaving early payers behind. Some parents sacrificed to pay early, and they deserve every cent back.

    • This is election talk.there is no legal mechanism for this at present.
Maybe the ministers have a big bag of money and you can just go and say how many subjects your child signed up for. Then they give you the money

  8. It’s been a long time since families got this kind of break. Education is expensive, and for once parents aren’t being left to shoulder the cost alone.
