Ayre Group Denies Any Connection to Wirecard Amid Circulating Allegations

Ayre Group and Calvin Ayre denies all links to Wirecard scandal

The Ayre Group has firmly rejected claims circulating in the public domain that attempt to link its Chairman, Calvin Ayre, to the international Wirecard scandal.

In a statement issued yesterday, the company dismissed the allegations as entirely baseless.

According to the group, Mr. Ayre “has never had any involvement with Wirecard and has never had any dealings with, and has never met, any of the senior executives or employees of the company.”

The statement further clarified that neither Ayre nor any of his business entities have ever used Wirecard’s services, processed payments through the company, or held any accounts with the now-collapsed German payment processor.

The Ayre Group emphasized that nothing contained in the Wirecard criminal complaint suggests any wrongdoing, impropriety, or association involving Mr. Ayre or his companies.

The company added that, out of respect for the ongoing legal proceedings in Germany related to the high-profile embezzlement case, Mr. Ayre will not comment further at this time.

Wirecard, once considered a rising star in the global fintech industry, collapsed in 2020 following revelations that €1.9 billion listed on its balance sheets did not exist, sparking one of Europe’s largest corporate fraud investigations.
