Senator Jamilla Kirwan
Senator Jamilla Kirwan was sworn in on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, as an Independent Senator in the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda, formally taking her seat in the Upper House.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Parliament, where Senator Kirwan took the oath of office, pledging to uphold the Constitution and serve the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

Her appointment adds an independent voice to the Senate, which plays a key role in reviewing legislation, debating national policy, and providing oversight within the parliamentary system.
Kirwan’s entry into the Upper House is expected to contribute to broader perspectives during Senate deliberations, particularly on matters affecting governance, social development, and national interest.
The Senate continues to function as an essential component of Parliament, complementing the work of the elected House of Representatives.

I truly hope that she’s really an independent senator an not independent on paper.
Only time will tell
Congratulations. We know who Jamlla supports so aint nothing independent about her appointment
