UPP Cancels All Saints East & St. Luke Whistlestop Over Delayed Police Approval

UPP Political Leader Jamale Pringle

The United Progressive Party (UPP) has cancelled a Whistlestop and public meeting planned for Tuesday, December 17, in the All Saints East and St. Luke constituency, citing delays by police in granting approval for the event.

In a press release, the UPP said its application to host the meeting was submitted and acknowledged by police on Friday, December 12. However, approval was not formally communicated until 5:08 p.m. on the day of the event, after the party had already abandoned its plans due to the lack of sufficient time to properly organize and promote the gathering.

According to the party, police later indicated that approval had in fact been granted on Monday, but the information was not relayed due to the Police Commissioner being out of office. The UPP said repeated inquiries prior to Tuesday yielded no definitive response.

The party described the situation as unacceptable and expressed concern about what it views as inconsistent handling of political activities. The cancellation, it said, deprived residents of the opportunity to engage directly with party representatives on national and constituency issues.

The UPP said it remains committed to lawful and peaceful political engagement and expects timely and transparent processes to be applied fairly to all political organizations.

  1. Good for him. When Pringle openly flouts the law and appeals to barbaric, caveman-like Neanderthals to resort to criminal behavior, he needs a serious wake-up call! Leadership is NOT a costume to be worn when he and his carnival junkie representative chose to play Mas! Just shut up and stand down!
Shameful excuse for leadership in 2025!
