LIAT Air is preparing to spread its wings even further in 2026, with plans to expand service to new destinations including Panama, Belize, and Colombia, according to the airline’s Chief Financial Officer Kunle Ibrahim.
Speaking with reporters during an interview on the tarmac at Las Américas International Airport, Ibrahim said the coming year will mark an ambitious phase of growth for LIAT Air, as it strengthens connectivity between the Eastern Caribbean and key regional hubs.
The announcement follows LIAT’s successful inaugural touchdown in the Dominican Republic on Friday, adding Santo Domingo as the airline’s newest destination. The route brings LIAT’s network to 17 destinations across 14 countries, a milestone that underscores the carrier’s rapid regional expansion.
Ibrahim described the Dominican Republic as a strategically important market for the airline, citing its role as a major gateway for tourism, commerce, and onward international connections.
“Markets like the Dominican Republic are critical to our operations and long-term sustainability,” he said, noting that LIAT is focused on linking Caribbean people and economies more efficiently.

Beyond Santo Domingo, Ibrahim revealed that LIAT also intends, in the near future, to begin flying into additional airports within the Dominican Republic, further deepening its presence in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
Looking ahead, he said expansion plans also include reaching Central and South American destinations such as Panama, Belize, and Colombia, moves that would significantly enhance regional air connectivity and open new opportunities for trade, tourism, and travel.
The latest developments signal LIAT Air’s growing confidence and renewed ambition, as the carrier positions itself as a key bridge linking the Caribbean with Latin America and beyond.

Panama is the next U.S.A… dirt cheap!
No visa required.
But, be careful of the crimes.
