Cedar Grove Man Facing Drug, Weapons, and Police Battery Charges Remanded

A Cedar Grove resident will spend the Christmas holiday in custody after being slapped with a litany of serious charges ranging from illegal firearms possession to assaulting police officers.

Ogden Christian was taken into custody in St. John’s on December 21 following what police describe as incidents spanning multiple locations across the capital, including Sir Vivian Richards Street, Joseph Lane, Camacho Avenue, and Rose Street.

Christian now faces a formidable list of charges: dangerous driving, driving without a licence or insurance, driving without the owner’s consent, possession of a 9mm Taurus pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition, possession of 453 grams of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to transfer, resisting arrest, and battery on police.

Christian appeared before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel this morning, where he requested an adjournment to secure legal representation from attorney Wendel Alexander. The magistrate granted the request, and the case is scheduled to resume next Monday, December 29.

Until then, Christian remains behind bars, facing what could be significant prison time if convicted on the multiple charges, particularly the firearms and drug trafficking allegations.
