The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the Central Board of Health (CBH) are intensifying their collaborative campaign to improve sanitation and waste management in the heart of the capital.
Teams from both agencies have been deployed throughout St. John’s, conducting daily clean-ups, pressure-washing, and deodorizing in areas that experience high pedestrian and commercial activity.

The initiative focuses on maintaining a cleaner, healthier, and more welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and thousands of cruise visitors arriving during the peak tourism season.
Officials say the programme has become increasingly important due to the surge in foot traffic and waste generation linked to the strong cruise arrivals this month.
Crews are paying special attention to public bins, drainage channels, and alleyways where waste can accumulate quickly. The use of eco-friendly cleaning agents and deodorizing solutions is also being emphasized to maintain environmental standards.

Both agencies have encouraged the public to support the effort by properly disposing of waste and reporting illegal dumping or sanitation issues.

This is exactly what Antigua needs so thank you for making it happen. Visitors should arrive and leave with a good impression.
Honestly, the smell was unbearable on my way to work every morning. Can’t wait to walk through a fresh-smelling St. John’s.
I think they need some more public bathrooms in town
If we kept our surroundings clean government wouldn’t have to keep doing this. Lets do better
