Four Young Men Charged After Modified Flare Gun Found During Police Patrol

A routine mobile patrol by police has resulted in the arrest and charging of four young men after officers allegedly discovered a modified flare gun hidden inside a vehicle.

Those charged are:
• Niah Joseph, 19, of No. 2 George Street
• Jeremy Floyd, 19, of No. 3 George Street
• Devontia Summer, 21, of No. 3 George Street
• Duran Benjamin, 21, of Green Bay Hill

According to police, around 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, officers were conducting patrols in several communities, including Grays Farm, Green Bay, Hatton, Five Islands, Hawksbill Beach, Yeptons, and Deep Bay. During the operation, lawmen stopped and searched a silver Honda Fit occupied by the four suspects.

A modified flare gun was reportedly found concealed beneath one of the vehicle’s seats. The men were detained on the spot and later formally charged with Possession of a Modified Flare Gun.

All four are expected to appear in court to answer to the charge.

The Royal Police Force says the operation forms part of its increased island-wide visibility and crime-prevention strategy, aimed at enhancing public safety and deterring illegal activity as the holiday season continues.
