Prime Minister Confirms Retroactive Payments Underway for Public Sector Workers

Prime Minister Gaston Browne

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Gaston Browne has confirmed that the government has begun issuing the latest round of retroactive payments to eligible public-sector employees.

Speaking to State Media, Browne said the Treasury Department is actively processing payments for the 2018–2023 contract period, marking the third retroactive payout under this agreement.

“Payments will commence today and should be completed by tomorrow for all those who are in the service,” the Prime Minister stated.

He further explained that former employees who separated from the service—whether by resignation or retirement—are also expected to receive their outstanding amounts by Friday.

Browne assured that the retroactive payments cover all categories of government workers, including established and non-established staff, as well as weekly and monthly paid employees.

“This will be the final payment for the last negotiating period, and evidently as we enter a new period, we will keep the payments up to date,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to honouring wage agreements in a timely manner moving forward.
