Skerritt’s Pasture Man Charged in Forgery and Fraud Scheme

Police have arrested and charged a Skerritt’s Pasture resident in connection with a series of alleged cheque-forgery schemes targeting commercial banks in the capital during the busy pre-holiday period.

Ian Michael Martin faces multiple fraud-related charges following incidents reported on December 23 and 24, 2025, at banks along Friars Hill Road and at Market and High Streets in St. John’s.

According to police, Martin is accused of cashing forged cheques totalling EC$17,670.56 and attempting to obtain a further EC$65,588.67 using similar fraudulent documents.

He has been formally charged with:
• Intent to Defraud
• Larceny
• Uttering Forged Documents
• Attempting to Obtain Property by Deception
• Receiving Proceeds of Crime

Martin is expected to make his first court appearance shortly to answer to the charges.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing financial crimes and is urging members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious transactions or behaviour.

  2. Pity he didn’t use his gray-matter in pursuit of legitimate, respectable goals. A lengthy jail sentence might be his best punishment at this time. In reality, a thief is a thief is a criminal. Time to face the facts.

    • Do you know this young man? Have you ever met him? Please if you haven’t done any of the above. Please make sure you do not have a beam in your eyes. When you get a chance read the charges that are alleged against this young man and please make them make sense before you start pronouncing jail sentence for him. While you are at it please learn definition of corruption. Explain if you can “uttering forged documents “
