Prime Minister Gaston Browne
Prime Minister Gaston Browne is calling for a renewed culture of civic responsibility as Antigua and Barbuda advances its development agenda, urging citizens to keep their neighbourhoods clean, raise environmental pride, and contribute to the country’s growing reputation as a global tourism destination.
In his New Year’s Address, Browne said the transformation of Antigua and Barbuda into an economic powerhouse requires discipline and shared responsibility, not only from government but from families, communities and businesses.
“For how we treat our surroundings reflects how we value ourselves,” he stated, urging an end to slothfulness, littering, and community neglect.
Browne encouraged entrepreneurship, innovation and skill-building, especially among young people, saying every citizen has a stake in national success.
He reiterated his vision for a “stakeholder society” where Antiguans and Barbudans hold the “commanding heights of the economy” while welcoming responsible international investment.
“Hope is work,” Browne emphasized. “Hope is the daily choice to lift each other up and move this nation forward, step by step, hand in hand.”

I absolutely agree. Each person must do his/ part in keeping Antigua clean and beautiful , contribute to its economic development as well as reap the benefits of doing so. Happy new year to one and all.
Community cleanliness is a shared responsibility. Maybe this is the right time to launch education campaigns alongside enforcement.
Not Antigua alone. So many of them small islands dirty. People minds and lifestyles reflects the country.
