ABAA Confirms US Flight Cancellations to Antigua

Several United States flights scheduled to arrive at V.C. Bird International Airport were canceled on Saturday as regional air travel continues to be affected by uncertainty following pre-dawn US military strikes on Venezuela and the reported capture of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.

The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) confirmed that services operated by Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, and American Airlines were among those impacted. Two American Airlines flights from New York’s JFK Airport and Miami were canceled, while the status of two additional American Airlines flights expected later today remained unclear.

Similar disruptions were reported across the region, with US flights to Barbados, St. Lucia, and Grenada also canceled as airlines adjusted operations in response to evolving security concerns.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), US civil aviation has been prohibited from operating within the Curaçao, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and parts of the Piarco Flight Information Regions until at least midnight tonight. The restriction has significantly affected airline schedules throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

Despite the cancellations, the ABAA said several international carriers are operating as normal. Flights operated by British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, WestJet, and United Airlines are currently expected to arrive at V.C. Bird International Airport as scheduled.

Passengers are being urged to contact their airlines directly for the latest information, as further schedule changes remain possible while the regional situation continues to develop.
