A joint police operation in the Cedar Valley area early Saturday morning has resulted in the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, illegal drugs and other items, as law enforcement continues its crackdown on gun and drug-related crime.

At about 4:30 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Cedar Valley. The operation involved personnel from several specialised units, including the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Task Force, Gang and Guns Suppression Unit (GAGSU), K-9 Unit, Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit (FERU), Drone Unit, and the Special Services Unit (SSU).

During the search, police reportedly found one firearm with matching rounds of ammunition, a quantity of plant material resembling the controlled drug cannabis, a sum of Eastern Caribbean and United States currency, along with other items now being examined as part of the investigation.

A male resident of Cedar Valley and a female from Clare Hall were arrested at the scene on suspicion of unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of an unlicensed firearm. Both were taken into custody at the St. John’s Police Station, where they remain as investigations continue.

Police officials say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to target illegal firearms, narcotics and related criminal activity across the country. The Police Administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities through sustained and coordinated enforcement actions.
