APUA warns of potential disconnections due to arrears

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has issued a disconnection notice warning customers that electricity, water and telecommunications services may be cut in January 2026 if accounts remain overdue for more than 30 days.

In a public advisory, APUA said the notice applies to electricity and water services, as well as telecommunications accounts, including inet mobile, home and business services. The authority urged customers to take immediate steps to verify their account status and make the necessary arrangements to avoid service interruptions.

Customers are encouraged to check their balances by contacting APUA’s customer service department, accessing the APUA Online Portal, or reaching out via email. Those experiencing difficulty meeting their obligations are also advised to contact the Credit Control Department to discuss possible payment plan options.

APUA noted that payments can be made online through its official website or via customers’ respective banks or credit unions using online platforms, providing multiple options to settle outstanding balances.

The utility provider also reminded customers that reconnections are typically processed within one to two business days after payment is received, stressing that early action can help minimize inconvenience.

The authority continues to encourage customers to regularly monitor their accounts and make timely payments to ensure uninterrupted access to essential services.
