From pulsating music to deep cultural expression, Dominica is inviting residents of Antigua and Barbuda to Mas Domnik 2026 — a carnival experience organizers say is impossible to resist.

The invitation was reinforced on Thursday during a press conference in St. John’s hosted by a delegation from the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), promoting the carnival scheduled for February 16 and 17, 2026.

Communications and Public Relations Officer at the Discover Dominica Authority, Monelle Alexis, said Mas Domnik is not just a two-day road march, but a full cultural season that begins well before the official carnival dates.

She explained that visitors can expect a packed schedule of events, including calypso and bouyon competitions, cultural showcases, costume displays, village-style food experiences, and family-friendly activities designed to highlight the heart of Dominican culture.

“Mas Domnik is rooted in tradition,” Alexis said. “Our carnival reflects who we are as a people our music, our history, our food, and our sense of community. From the drums to the costumes, every element tells a story.”

Alexis noted that Dominica’s carnival has grown steadily over the years, earning a reputation for authenticity and inclusiveness, making it especially appealing to regional visitors seeking a more intimate, culture-forward carnival experience.

She added that Mas Domnik offers a unique balance — high-energy revelry paired with a calm, welcoming environment.

Addressing safety, Alexis assured potential visitors that security arrangements have been significantly strengthened across all major events and venues, allowing patrons to celebrate freely and even attend religious services in peace.

Meanwhile, Festivals and Events Assistant at the Discover Dominica Authority, Ogelly Moses, said Mas Domnik 2026 is being designed with regional audiences in mind, including many repeat visitors from Antigua and Barbuda.

Moses highlighted Dominica’s famous bouyon music as one of the main attractions, noting that the pulsating rhythms, live performances, and interactive street celebrations make Mas Domnik a carnival unlike any other in the Caribbean.

Travel arrangements have also been tailored to make attendance even easier. LIAT Air has announced a 20 percent discount on airfare for carnival travelers, while Sunrise Airways is offering a 10 percent reduction, removing one of the biggest barriers for those considering the trip.

Organizers say that when the rich history of Mas Domnik, the infectious music, immersive cultural events, enhanced security, and discounted travel are combined, there is little reason for Antiguans and Barbudans to miss Mas Domnik 2026 — a carnival experience that promises authenticity, connection, and unforgettable Caribbean vibes just a short flight away.
