Residents of the St. Peter constituency are being given a new opportunity to advance their education and professional skills, following the announcement of a scholarship initiative spearheaded by Parliamentary Representative, the Rawdon Turner.
Turner is sponsoring ten fully funded scholarships for constituents to pursue selected short courses at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus in Antigua. The initiative is aimed at empowering residents with practical, market-ready skills that can enhance employability, entrepreneurship, and career advancement.
The scholarship programme covers a wide range of courses designed to meet the needs of today’s workforce. Areas of study include Advanced Human Resource Management, Advanced Supervisory Management, Customer Service Management, Effective Management and Leadership, Financial Planning for Small Business, Marketing Essentials, Labour Law, and Project Management.
Additional offerings include Introduction to Human Resource Management, Office Management, Occupational Health and Safety Fundamentals, Introduction to Procurement and Its Environment, Supervisory Management, The Learning Environment (Practicum), Principles of Teaching Young Children, Introduction to Real Estate Law, and Basic Makeup.
The initiative reflects a broader focus on skills development and lifelong learning, particularly for individuals seeking to upgrade their qualifications or transition into new career paths. By partnering with the UWI Global Campus, the programme ensures participants receive accredited training delivered locally, reducing barriers to access.
