Derol Thomas Arrested and Charged Following Drug Seizure and Escape Attempt

Police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old Hatton resident in connection with a series of larceny and malicious damage offences that occurred earlier this week.

The accused, identified as Claudius King of Hatton, was taken into custody following investigations into several incidents reported on January 13, 2026.

According to law enforcement officials, one of the incidents took place along Tindale Road, where King is alleged to have stolen a car battery valued at $475. He is also accused of causing damage to the right rear panel glass of the same vehicle, which has been valued at approximately $300.

In a separate matter on Kentish Road, King has been charged with the theft of two side mirrors valued at $1,000, as well as a car jack worth $100. He is further accused of damaging two quarter panel glasses, with the estimated cost of repairs placed at $600.

Police also charged King with malicious damage to a toilet bowl valued at $700, stemming from another incident on the same day.

Authorities say investigations into the matter are ongoing. King is expected to appear before the court at a later date to answer to the charges.
