The Office of the Consul General of Antigua and Barbuda has announced that Gail Christian, Consul General of Antigua and Barbuda in Toronto, has been selected to serve as Chair of the Caribbean Consular Corps (CCC) for the 2026 term.
The Caribbean Consular Corps brings together thirteen Caribbean diplomatic and consular missions based in Toronto and functions as a key platform for coordination, cooperation and joint advocacy on issues impacting Caribbean nations and the Caribbean diaspora across the Greater Toronto Area.
The Chairmanship rotates among member missions, providing leadership for the group and representing a unified Caribbean presence at official functions and ceremonial events.
During her tenure, Christian is expected to focus on strengthening economic collaboration, expanding education and skills development opportunities, deepening engagement with the Caribbean diaspora, and reinforcing the CCC’s institutional capacity.
Among the initiatives being considered is the introduction of a CCC Troika system to improve continuity and long-term planning within the organization.
Reflecting on her appointment, Christian described the role as an opportunity to advance shared regional interests in Canada. She noted that through collective action, the Corps can more effectively promote initiatives that support Caribbean people at home and abroad, while elevating the region’s voice within the Canadian landscape.
