Nikisha Rose
Residents of the Gray’s Farm community are reeling in shock and grief following the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Nikisha Rose, a well-known and much-loved hairdresser whose life was cut short late Friday night.
Friends, neighbours and co-workers described Rose as vibrant, warm-hearted, and always smiling, someone who brought light wherever she went.
Many in the community say her death has left a painful void, particularly among those who knew her through her work both as a hairstylist and as an employee with the Schools Meals Programme.
“She was always full of life,” one co-worker shared. “Always smiling, always encouraging others. This is just too sudden — she’s gone far too soon.”
A longtime friend Bernard Warner told Antigua.news “ we grew up together in Grays Farm, a very popular girl, very friendly and loved”,
Police confirmed that Rose was fatally shot during an incident around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, in the vicinity of the G&E Parking Lot in Michael’s Village.
According to investigators, Rose was travelling in a motor vehicle with a male companion when an unknown assailant opened fire on the vehicle, striking both occupants.
Both victims were rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre suffering from gunshot wounds. Rose later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 11:21 p.m.
The male victim, also a resident of Gray’s Farm, sustained gunshot wounds and remains hospitalised in stable condition, police said.
As word of the shooting spread, residents across Gray’s Farm expressed disbelief and sorrow, with many describing Rose as a hardworking mother and a pillar in the community who was deeply connected to those around her.
Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are ongoing. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).
The Police Administration has extended sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Nikisha Rose, as the Gray’s Farm community continues to mourn the loss of a woman remembered for her kindness, energy and infectious smile.

This is a hard pill to swallow. Just last week I was driving in the village and saw her. Life is so unpredictable sometimes
