Member of Parliament for St John’s Rural West Richard Lewis, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage following the killing of Nikisha Rose, a hardworking mother whose death has once again shaken the nation.
In a statement issued moments ago on Facebook, MP Lewis extended heartfelt condolences to Rose’s family, noting that the community has been plunged into mourning by what he described as a senseless act of violence.
“Crime and violence continue to be of serious concern,” Lewis said, stressing that the loss of another life underscores the urgent need for collective action.
The MP emphasized that addressing crime cannot be reduced to political blame or finger-pointing, but instead requires a united national response involving all stakeholders.
“All of us, as citizens and residents of Antigua and Barbuda, have a role to play in fighting this scourge on our society,” he stated. “The nation must be united against crime and violence. All interest groups must have a seat at the table to devise a comprehensive crime-fighting strategy, particularly in efforts to remove illegal guns from our streets.”
Lewis also appealed directly to members of the public to assist law enforcement as investigations continue into Rose’s killing.
“If we see something, we must say something,” he urged. “Let’s help the police in solving this murder. The perpetrators must be brought to justice.”
Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
