The police have confiscated a quantity of cannabis during a collaborative drug interdiction operation at the Custom Cargo Shed located at V. C. Bird International Airport.

Operation Details

 
  • Date and Time: Approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29
  • Units Involved: Officers from the Narcotics Department and the Customs Enforcement Unit conducted a routine search of the facility.

During this search, they uncovered a cardboard box containing eleven (11) vacuum-sealed packages of a vegetable material that resembled the controlled substance cannabis.

Seizure and Investigation

 
  • The packages were seized and taken to Police Headquarters for further examination.
  • Upon weighing, the total amount was recorded at 13.2 pounds, with an estimated street value of EC$79,200.00.

This seizure marks the largest recorded for the year to date, and investigations into the case are ongoing.
