Police have launched an investigation into the destruction of an excavator at a construction site in the John Hughes area.

According to State Media, The owners of the heavy-duty equipment said that the excavator, valued at several hundred thousand Eastern Caribbean dollars, was left at a secluded site on Wednesday evening. When workers returned to the location on Thursday morning, they discovered the machine had been burned beyond repair.

The owners are adamant the fire was deliberately set and have expressed concern over the significant financial loss caused by the incident.

Police are continuing investigations as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.
